Copernic Tracking

We are using copernics to follow actors for the first time, and looking for a way to blur the edges of the primitive.
We have success in affecting the content through FX Stack items, but it is not allowing us to blur the edges of the projection surface so that we do not see the hard edge on the floor or the wall of the set.

Any push in the right direction would be much appreciated.

you are tracking actors but you use primitives ? what exactly do you try to achieve ?
Fx stack are for effects not content.

are you trying to project on people ? their silhouette ?

depending on what you want to achieve:
you can blur edges of a 3D object by using an alpha mask in the it's compositing and activate the option alpha from sequence in the 3D scene properties of the object.

there is an other technique which is much more advanced. called silhouette tracking.

Hello, thank you for your response.
We are following actors with different 3D objects (basic spheres etc from the primitive list) to project on them much like followspots. Sometimes full body shapes, and sometime just head shapes.
The goal is for the lighting designer to be able to change the colour, shape etc of the light being projected on the actor at different times in the show.
We are also using some Moving Light Tracking, but the versatility of the projector might be more successful since the content can be much more interesting and variable than just the coloured light from a moving light.

It sounds like the alpha mask would be a good solution for us to try.

We are onstage tomorrow, I will work with this.

Furthermore I would advice using disc primitives instead of spheres and simply blur the image inside to do a gobo.
